Devotees Ring in the New Year in Style at Dallas’ Kirtan 50

Somewhere in the range of five and six hundred aficionados from all over North America began the New Year as they intended to go on – reciting the Holy Name and connecting with fans – at Kirtan 50 in Dallas this Christmas season.

The beginning of the celebration occurred 10 years back, when gurukuli Sri Rupa Das began a yearly New Year's Eve 24-Hour Kirtan at ISKCON Dallas.

At that point in 2016, when sanctuary president Nityananda Das needed to accomplish something fantastic for ISKCON's 50th anniversary, the reciting was multiplied to fifty hours, turning into a five-day celebration known as Kirtan 50.

This year the celebrations started on December 28th and finished on January first. "On Friday evening the kirtan kept running from 7 pm till around 11, on Saturday from 10am to 10pm, and on Monday – New Year's Eve - we did every one of the 24 hours," says Haridas Chan, who sorted out the occasion with his mom Padma Dasi. "We completed with another three or four hours on New Year's Day."

Kirtan pioneers included B.B. Govinda Swami, Badahari Das, Gaura Vani, Amala Harinama, Havi Das, and Krishna Kishora from the Mayapuris. Among the features was a sincere tune/move introduction by understudies from TKG Academy on Srila Prabhupada's Markine Bhagavata-Dharma petitions, which the ISKCON Founder-Acharya composed while on board the steamship Jaladuta on his way from India to the U.S.

After 7 pm on New Year's Eve, the sanctuary room ended up pressed as neighborhood aficionados overwhelmed in to ensure they had a promising begin to the New Year. By 11 pm, the kirtan was working to a loud crescendo as B.B. Govinda Swami drove everybody into 2019.

"We had more than six hundred aficionados simply going crazy," Haridas reviews. "After 12 pm arati, the young proceeded with the reciting on until around 2 o'clock in the first part of the day."

On New Year's Day came the greatest feature of the celebration. Pujaris showered Sri Radha Kalachandji with red and gold petals from somewhere in the range of 25,000 roses, at that point tossed the offered petals into the ocean of lovers, who occupied with a happy "blossom battle" as they moved and recited the Holy Name.Throughout Kirtan 50, enthusiasts kept their vitality up with delightful worldwide prasadam food arranged by the staff of the popular Kalachandji's eatery.

Haridas says the celebration met up just with the assistance of many devoted volunteers including a gathering from Gainesville's Krishna House, who assisted with cut-up in the kitchen, the Vaishnava Youth Bus Tour, who helped serve out prasadam, and Giri Vallabha Klausner, Uddhava Marcotte and Narottama Rewah of Veuwr Inc who ran the livestream on the web.

"At that point obviously there's Nityananda Prabhu, our sanctuary president, who has dependably been an enduring off camera compel that urges aficionados to seek after whatever ventures they feel are vital to the network," Haridas says.

As per Haridas, arranging all the coordinations of the celebration can be upsetting, yet "it's everything justified, despite all the trouble when you see the grins on the enthusiasts' countenances."
